Dr Jolade Sansi was born on the 25th of April , 1961 to the family of Mr. Ebenezer Adebayo and Mogbonjubola Olabisi Bamgbose (of blessed memory). Her father was an economist who retired as a Federal Deputy Permanent Secretary. Dr Jolade Aderonke Adetola Sansi is happily married to Dr Olusegun Sansi who is a veterinarian and a public livestock policy consultant as well as the Chief Executive Officer of Jesswo Limited.

She had her primary education at Ireti Primary School, Ikoyi, Lagos between 1967 and 1972. She enrolled at Reagan Memorial Baptist Girls’ Secondary School, Yaba, Lagos in 1973 and passed out with the WASC in grade one in 1977. She got admission into the University of Ilorin in 1978 and graduated in 1982 with a B.Sc. (Hons.) Biology. She did her NYSC programme at Queen Elizabeth School, Ilorin between 1982 and 1983.

Afterwards she got admission into the University of Ibadan to study Veterinary Medicine in 1983 and graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree in 1988. She got a Master’s degree in Veterinary Parasitology from the University of Ibadan in 1996. She later returned to the University of Ibadan where she bagged her doctorate degree in Veterinary Public Health and Preventive Medicine specializing in Veterinary Epidemiology in 2012.

She started working at the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Moor Plantation, Ibadan in January 1991. Her penchant for hard work and track record of excellent service have made her an asset to the college. Today, she holds the record of being the only veterinarian at the Federal College of Animal Health Production Technology Ibadan who has a Ph.D. She was the acting head of the Animal Health and Production Department from 2000 to 2003 and Head of the same department from 2003 to 2006. She is currently the first Head of the Science Laboratory Technology Department, a new and dynamic department in the college. She has been able with the cooperation of her colleagues to nurture this department from inception to date. She has trained many students who have excelled as professionals, in commercial firms as well as in pursuit of further university degrees.

Her quest for excellence has earned Dr Jolade Aderonke Adetola Sansi the respect and admiration of her colleagues and students at the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Ibadan. She belongs to several professional bodies including the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association; the Agricultural Society of Nigeria; the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians and the Veterinary.

She has served in various capacities in the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology as Head or member of various committees. She was one of two people who initiated an affiliation between the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Ibadan and the Mississippi State University, Starville, USA. She was the chairperson of the Selection Committee of Exchange Students in 2007.

She was Exchange Scholar at the University of Georgia, Athens, USA from 2007 to 2008 and a Research Scholar at the same university from 2008 to 2009. She attended a certificate course at the Imperial College, London on Epidemiology and Control of Infectious Diseases (mathematical modeling) in 2006. She was a visitor at the Royal Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) Sheffield, UK in 2001.

She initiated the organic livestock farm for the College and this is a major requirement for obtaining international certificate as a certified organic livestock farm. She has attended so many conferences and workshops and has made various presentations at technical workshops and conferences both nationally and internationally. Her fields of interest are biology, veterinary medicine, veterinary public health and preventive medicine as well as organic agriculture.

She is the author and co-author of several publications spread across books and scientific journals both nationally and internationally. She has also reviewed some books and scientific journals both nationally and internationally. She has also review some books and scientific journals including the College Compendium and series published by the Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan. She has served as resource person at several youth and women development programmes.

She received an AAVLD award for the best student scientific poster presentation at the Annual conference of the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians held in Greensboro, North Carolina, USA in 2008. She has also received awards from several student bodies in the College.

It was in acknowledgement of her contribution to national development in the field of higher education that Dr Jolade Aderonke Adetola Sansi was conferred with the PSR Woman of Merit Gold Award in 2013.

She is a devout Christian and a member of New Covenant Church of Nigeria.
